Many rainy days are ahead of me as the season shifts into late spring. Geoje smells more than ever like an ocean town drenched in the fish juice of the South coast. I like it... the smell, not the rain.
In these times, my dress pants are always glued to the back of my legs as the moisture permeates every inch of my home and office; you can't escape those little droplets that float about the air thick with sea salt. The wet drags into the lobby, making shoes stick and other times slide across the linoleum that is never without a thin, reflective film of water.
Some days, though not very often, it is overcast and dry. In those fortunate times, we take boat rides to the various islands that dot the ocean beyond Geoje.
The subsequent shots are taken by my boss and colleagues on the botanical garden island known as Oedo Botania. It's about 4km off the coast of Geoje-do and boasts a lovely array of flowers and ancient Greek inspired sculptures.
