There Are No Dreams of Darkness <<2009-05-02 / 6:58 p.m.>>
It's been my quest this weekend to locate the OST (original soundtrack) for the 1994 anime 'Darkside Blues'. The entire OST, composed by Kazuhiko Toyama, disinterests me almost entirely; only one song sticks out--the moving, bluesy tune heard in the trailer for the film amidst the screams and high pitch psychic energy blasts:
This particular OST has been discontinued for quite some time, making it almost impossible to find online. Fortunately, the net is a universe of possibilities and after checking message board babble, etc..., I came upon a 'pay now, ask questions later' download site. Am I that desperate to give them my credit card? We'll see... First, I'm going to try Limewire and scope free torrent sites for the sucker. I mean, it's only one song. I can live without it, right?
Oh boy, this reminds of a year or so back when I was searching like a bastard for VGmixer Zyko's recording of a song entitled 'Venom,' which pays homage to the Metal Gear series by using a background loop of some boss level (I think) music from the original NES game (and with lyrics like, "What am I missin'? A code name for the mission: Operation Gray Fox, stock up on cigs and ammunition," leaves very little doubt about the direction of the song).
Anyway, I'm just sitting here in the interim of my weekend shenanigans, debating a kimchi-flavored ramen supper (again) or something fancier, like a Quiznos sub from the place in Okpo. The difference besides flavor and health content is a 20 minute drive and the possibility of no parking, meaning I'll have to walk several blocks to the store. There's always the off chance they'll be closed too. In a small town in South Korea, shop owners abide by their own store schedules, as unpredictable (and unprofitable) as that may be.
